Development, leadership, and architecture
At Performance Contracting Group, I advanced from Senior Software Developer to Development Supervisor and Software Development Manager before moving into architecture as Senior Software Architect.
I led the development team as it grew from 7 to 14 engineers. I had 10 direct reports, including a supervisor who led the other 4. Mentorship was part of the work: helping junior developers take on senior responsibilities and senior engineers move toward architecture.
Improving how work reached the business
I moved an internal construction IT team from waterfall to Scrum and organized development into pods that could deliver features in parallel behind feature flags. Releases moved from quarterly to monthly.
Pairing test automation with earlier business-analysis and QA involvement cut the QA validation cycle from 80 hours of manual testing to a 10-hour automated scripted run with targeted manual checks. I also engaged technology and executive leaders in delivery improvement through The Phoenix Project.
Software for work in the field
- Built a greenfield Angular application and .NET API to replace manual construction timekeeping with digital field time entry.
- Developed cross-platform mobile applications for industrial pipe insulation, modernizing field measurement and data entry while integrating third-party systems.
- Established an integration upgrade path for Microsoft Dynamics AX and automated build-and-release workflows with TFS and Azure DevOps.
